Our Jeep and Ram dealership offers impressive new trucks for sale, new finance specials, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500, and Jeep Wrangler. Visit our service center to speak with our Dodge dealership about our Dodge Challenger.
While rival muscle cars have recently turned to sharp handling, the 2023 Dodge Challenger model keeps things retro with a package designed for old-school pony cars and straight-line speed. A V-6 engine is standard on these non-SRT Challengers. Still, the fun comes with the optional naturally aspirated Hemi V-8 engines, offered in various displacements and outputs from the 375-hp, 5.7-liter to 485-horsepower, 6.4-liter. If you want even more power, Dodge Challenger will gladly give you the big Challenger SRT Hellcat, which we review separately.
The Challenger features a classic muscle car interior with a simple design inspired by its 1970s predecessors and comfortable accommodations. Compared to its pony car competitors, the Dodge is much roomier inside, and adults can use the back seat. Unfortunately, its rubberized materials feel like old vinyl rather than premium plastic, and the rear visibility is poor. The Challenger’s wide front seats are comfortable for cruising. Still, even the optional booster seats don’t hug their occupants like those in the Camaro or Mustang do. The Dodge Pony car has an extra seven cubic feet of cargo space capacity in the trunk compared to the Camaro. This allows the Dodge Challenger to swallow two more bags of luggage than the Camaro. Fold the rear seats, and that advantage grows to six.
Every Dodge Challenger has a version of Dodge’s easy-to-use Uconnect infotainment system. The multifunction unit includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as standard equipment. Are you looking to get Led? Hear Jimmy Page’s soulful guitar riffs with one of two optional Alpine audio systems or the best 900-watt Harman/Kardon 18-speaker system.
The Ram 1500 is the best-driving and most comfortable pickup truck. Three powertrain options round out the engine list: a 260-hp 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6, a 305-hp 3.6-liter V-6, and a 395-hp 5.7-liter V-8 eight-speed automatic transmission. For even more firepower, look to the 702-hp Ram 1500 TRX, considered separately.
The Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750lbs and carry a payload of 2,320 pounds. Its maximum towing capacity exceeds all but the Ford F-150, which currently exceeds 13,000 pounds. Crew-cab Rams — including the Rebel model — can’t tow as much as extended-cab ones. However, the 1500’s more passenger-friendly Crew Cab can still tow north of 11,500 pounds.
Jeep Wrangler stands out for its individuality. It’s fun to drive and is unbeatable off-road. On the other hand, the steering, handling, and ride quality suffer from this SUV’s off-road orientation. Overall, the Wrangler has enough modern vibe to feel very modern.
The Jeep Wrangler is surprisingly modern regarding infotainment and smartphone integration. The optional 8.4-inch Uconnect system offers sharp graphics, quick response, and one of the best infotainment interfaces in the industry—plenty of charging ports (USB and USB-C) available. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration come standard with the Wrangler’s 7- and 8.4-inch touchscreens.
